Job Description

⭐ Is this a role for you?
This is a role perfect for someone who possesses 5 years or more experience in an accounts administration capacity having worked ideally in the engineering, construction, resources, or architecture industry. Your knowledge of either of these industries will be especially useful in ensuring your success from the get-go and will contribute to the immediate achievement of the team.

A social, vibrant, and fun office environment, with half-yearly team and company update events, 2–3-week Christmas shut down/holidays and annual Xmas parties await.

➡️ The Company
This is an engineering design consultancy business that has been established for more than 20 years, employing over 35 design professionals across two offices in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
They are a proudly different, highly personable business with a hands-on service that puts client experience first. Their focus is on pre-construction, offering in-house building design, drafting, engineering, soil testing, and 3D rendering, specialising in industrial buildings, new homes, commercial & residential developments, renovations, and refurbishment projects.
The company have built their brand and reputation as approachable, reliable, and expert engineers and treat every project as if it is their own. Their staff are the backbone of the company and are all working towards a common goal of producing the highest quality professional service within the industry.

➡️ The Team
The business comprises over 35 design, finance, and admin professionals across Brisbane and Gold Coast. Most people are based in Brisbane and occupy a business unit in Tingalpa. The culture of the team is fun, social, and energetic (for an engineering business) where everyone mucks in and helps each other out.

They operate a flat management structure and whilst the directors aren’t necessarily involved in the day-to-day, they are very much visible and approachable and can be called upon easily should you need their assistance.
It’s an open-door policy, with no egos or idiots.

➡️ The Role
Based out of the Brisbane office in Tingalpa and reporting to the Engineering Manager, your role will primarily support the engineering business unit and when required also help the building and environmental teams in ensuring all sides run effectively and efficiently on a day-to-day basis.
Your role in the business will be the most senior from an administration perspective and therefore will mean you may also be overseeing and mentoring the Administration Officer, whilst working alongside the Financial Manager in assisting with various accounting procedures and accounts admin tasks.  Your position will also be responsible for but not limited to:
  • Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of administration systems.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • Assist in the review of organisational policies and procedures.
  • Day-to-day accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, petty cash, receipting of client monies (including bank feed), and banking.
➡️ The Candidate
As someone who possesses a minimum of 5 years experience in an Accounts Administration position, you will be confident in your abilities and be able to demonstrate evidence of high-level initiative, motivation, and personal organisation.

Due to the nature of the position, and its primary responsibilities, your self-sufficient, autonomous working ability will be a key attribute in ensuring your success in the role.

In addition to the above, the below is also required.
  • Certificate III in Business Administration.
  • Experience using MYOB and/or Xero is essential.
  • Comprehensive oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
